Missouri Star Quilt Company is the leading online retailer of pre-cut fabrics, tools, quilting supplies and patterns. Our company was founded in 2008 by Jenny Doan with the goal of sharing her love of quilting with the world.
Over the past decade, we have grown from a small home-based business to an internationally recognized quilting destination. Our headquarters and retail store are located in Hamilton, Missouri, where we film tutorials for our popular YouTube channel, Missouri Star Quilt Co.
Our Story
Jenny Doan started Missouri Star Quilt Company out of her home in Hamilton, Missouri in 2008. Jenny had been quilting since her teenage years but took an extended break to focus on raising her 7 children.
In the early 2000s, Jenny’s love for quilting was renewed when she started attending quilt retreats. She quickly became known amongst her fellow quilters for her tips, tricks, and infectious enthusiasm. Friends and fellow quilters started asking Jenny if they could buy the pre-cut fabric packs she assembled for her projects.
Never one to turn down an opportunity, Jenny began selling fabric packs, tools and quilting supplies from her home. She started up a website and made a few product videos to showcase the items.
Word spread fast amongst the online quilting community. Quilters loved Jenny’s high-quality fabrics and friendly teaching style. Sales steadily grew as more people found Missouri Star Quilt Co. online.
Within a couple years, orders were overflowing from Jenny’s house. In 2011, Jenny moved the business out of her home into a small shop on the main street of Hamilton. She brought on a few employees to help keep up with orders.
Business continued to steadily grow. In 2013, the company moved into an even bigger building, allowing it to significantly expand its product offerings.
Jenny also started her popular YouTube channel that year, posting tips and pattern tutorials. Her YouTube videos struck a chord with quilters who loved Jenny’s down-home style and clear teaching methods.
Over the next few years, Jenny’s YouTube audience grew into the millions. Missouri Star Quilt experienced tremendous growth, necessitating multiple facility expansions. Additional buildings were purchased to accommodate all the product, employees, and state-of-the-art video production studios.
Today Missouri Star Quilt Co. has over 150 employees. We ship hundreds of orders every day across the U.S. and to over 40 countries. Our YouTube channel has over 1 million subscribers.
Even with massive growth, our company culture remains deeply grounded in Jenny’s small-town Missouri roots. We strive to provide exceptional service and share our passion for quilting with quilters worldwide.
Our Headquarters
Our company headquarters and retail store are located at 117 N Davis St in Hamilton, Missouri. Hamilton is a small agricultural community of around 1,500 residents, located north of Kansas City.
When you visit our headquarters, you’ll discover a quilter’s paradise! We have over 10,000 bolts of fabric, a huge selection of tools and supplies, hundreds of book and pattern titles, as well as plenty of workspace.
Our store features cutting stations, ironing boards, and seating areas so customers can test products and create projects on-site. Our knowledgeable staff are available to provide tips, recommendations, and assistance.
Behind the scenes, our headquarters houses our office staff, production team, fulfillment center, and video studios. We film over 150 YouTube videos every month right from our building in Hamilton!
Our headquarters store is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. We offer free store tours daily at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. No reservation is required. Come check out our quilting wonderland in person!

Our pre-cut fabric bundles and jelly rolls provide quilters unmatched convenience. All our fabric is high-quality 100% cotton. Our in-house experts regularly test fabrics and only select the best to carry.
Quilting Tools & Notions
We stock every tool a quilter could need, from rotary cutters and rulers to sewing machines and longarm quilting systems. Top brands like Omnigrid, Aurifil, Oliso, and Gammill are represented in our marketplace.

We offer patterns and books for quilters of all skill levels. Our talented in-house designers create beginner-friendly patterns exclusive to Missouri Star. We also carry patterns and books from today’s hottest designers like Lori Holt and Sara Lawson.
Downloadable digital patterns available instantly are some of our most popular items. We add dozens of new patterns monthly.
Quilt Kits
Our popular pre-cut quilt kits include all the fabric needed to complete a quilt top. Kits come with pre-cut fabric bundles, patterns and instructions. Available in a range of sizes from wall hangings to king size bed quilts.
From seasonal and holiday designs to juvenile prints and modern solids, we offer hundreds of unique quilt kit designs. Kits allow quilters to start and finish a quilt in a fraction of the time.
Sewing Machines & Furniture
We are an authorized dealer for top sewing machine brands like Juki, Janome, and Handi Quilter. Choose from sewing quilting machines, longarm machines, or multi-needle sergers.
Our sewing furniture includes tables, sewing cabinets and cutting stations. We also sell quilting frames and longarm machine accessories.
Custom Services
In addition to products, we offer the following services:
- Machine Quilting– Finish your quilt by having it professionally longarm quilted by our services team. Select edge-to-edge or custom quilting patterns.
- Binding Services– Drop off your quilt top and backing to have edges finished with binding. Save hours of work!
- Quilt Appraisal– Have one of our experts provide a fair market appraisal for your valuable antique or vintage quilts.

Jenny Doan
Our founder and director. Jenny still films YouTube videos nearly every day and works in the store regularly. Her leadership, vision and enthusiasm have made Missouri Star Quilt Co. what it is today.
Alan Doan
Alan is Jenny’s husband and our company’s chief operating officer. He handles day-to-day business operations, finance, and strategic direction. Alan’s business acumen has steered the company through tremendous growth.
Natalie Doan
Jenny and Alan’s daughter Natalie is the director of MSQC Academy, our online quilting education program. An avid quilter herself, Natalie produces and hosts educational content.
Sarah Galbraith
Sarah is our Art Director and the creative genius behind much of the pattern and fabric designs you see from MSQC. She also manages our in-house production team.
Misty Doan
Misty is Jenny & Alan’s daughter and runs the accounting and HR departments. She helps keep the company financially strong and makes sure our team is supported.
Merina Akhter
Merina manages our fulfillment center, ensuring your orders get packaged and shipped on time. She leads a team of 20 order fulfillment specialists.
Mary Mills
Mary is our Social Media Director. She manages content and community engagement across our YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and other social media accounts.
In addition to the individuals above, we have dozens of talented team members who help run the retail store, fabric department, websites, customer service, video production, and more. Our company is powered by this team of dedicated quilting enthusiasts.
Our staff has over 400 years of quilting experience collectively. We love sharing our knowledge with our customers to spread the joy of quilting.

Our quilting retreats allow hundreds of quilters to gather annually for a weekend of quilting, fun, and friendship. Retreats are held at our headquarters in Hamilton, MO plus additional locations nationwide.

Our YouTube channel fosters an online community with over 1 million subscribers. Quilters gather in the comments to interact, get help, and share creations.
Facebook Groups
We operate multiple quilting groups on Facebook with over 150,000 engaged members. The groups provide spaces to share projects, ask questions, and meet fellow quilting enthusiasts.

Charity Quilts

Fostering connections amongst quilters motivated Jenny to start the company. We strive to maintain that spirit of community in all that we do. Quilting is better together!
The Future
It’s been an amazing journey since Jenny first started the business from her home in 2008. While we’ve grown tremendously, many things remain the same. Our commitment to helping and inspiring quilters has never been stronger.
We will continue to nurture the passion for quilting by connecting with quilters worldwide. Evolving with the times, we plan to enhance our educational offerings and diversify our product selection. But our small-town values will stay firmly in place.
